Holy WOW! I am going to say this again and again because I cannot believe I have one year old girls. Like what? I remember the first 4 months were an absolute blur. It was so hard. We barely slept and had two screaming babies with tummy issues that we finally resolved. It was heart breaking as a new mama. I remember coming home from the hospital sore, tired and scared. We went out on our first date with Surge the next month after we had the girls and I remember crying my eyes out. I felt like a terrible mom because I couldn’t find a formula that worked well for them. I cried so hard that day. That night going to bed I cried out to Jesus and asked Him for help. I continued to beat myself up. Things didn’t get easier. I would have days where5 I felt like such a failure and I knew that was the enemy trying to destroy me. I began to pray and worship when those thoughts would come back and you know, we got through it because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. This verse replayed in my mind daily through the hard days, the good days and the days I needed His help a little more. We got through the year with Gods help, His strength and His grace. WOW! Jesus you are so good! I am crying writing this post because honestly motherhood is hard. No one talks about these things. But you know what mama? Jesus gave you those babies for a reason. If you are an expecting mama, new mama, or already have children; your babies have a purpose. They need you during this season of imparting into them. This season won’t last forever because before you know it, they will be mature enough to take care of themselves and won’t need you as much. Agh, that is crazy to even think about. Haha! This year honestly flew by and I can’t thank Jesus enough for my healthy baby girls.
I wanted to celebrate the twins but not just the twins, I wanted to celebrate me. I carried them full term, gave birth to them and here we are a year into life together so I wanted to celebrate me also. Since the day I knew we were having twin girls, I envisioned the three of us wearing tutus and making it an adult party as well. My theme was more elegant because we don’t have many friends with kids besides my friend Julie. Her two girls came and the girls had an absolute blast with them. It was honestly so MUCH FUN! My friend Caroline opened up her beautiful home and it was the perfect space for their party.
We catered Mediterranean food from Amir Grill and holy moly their food was AMAZING! My sister in law made the girls smash cakes and a larger one for everyone to try. For desserts we had lots of fruit and amazing cake pops that I ordered from Judy, her work is absolutely amazing!
We rented tables and chairs from Colorado Party Rentals. We used them for the girls’ shower also and had the best experience. I absolutely love the variety of rental options they have. The greenery we ordered from HoneyComb.com . I also used them for my shower and love the owner. She is the sweetest! The backdrop was made by Surge and I used a linen bed sheet for it. I ordered 20 pink dried palms and 20 yellow ones and kind of created my own thing. I honestly would have just rented a back drop because this one was a lot of work. Haha!
I think this is all for the girls birthday post. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you for stopping by! 🙂
