Wow! It’s been a minute for sure! I feel like I had the girls and have not been blogging at all. I left my third baby hanging. Haha! I have been keeping up on Instagram a ton so you can definitely follow along on there. Modaprints!
Today I will be sharing all the things we loved and used with our twins for the first four months, but before that I did a question box on Instagram to ask you guys if any of you had any questions you wanted to ask me. So here are a few I received:
- What are the things I actually used in my hospital bag? Honestly, everything I brought. I will link it all right here: https://www.liketoknow.it/ltk/4BC2EN4aDZbGuj1DA2IPfk
- How did you tandem feed the twins? Did I use a twin z pillow? I fed them at the same time and the twin z pillow was a life saver! Because the girls were so small, I had to add a blanket underneath them and on top of the z pillow for more support. (Definetly recommend this pillow)
- How do I deal with baby advice? DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE! I have learned that EVERYONE and their moms have something to say and show you how to do things. NO Karen, I will listen to you but I will not take your advice, unless of course you want to and feel that it is necessary. One thing that still gets me is strangers literally ask me if I am breastfeeding my girls. No Linda, it’s non of you dang business. I just respond with, “Were you breastfed as a baby?” and walk away. lol Listen to your own gut because MAMA, you know best!
- How are you able to afford double of everything? My husband and I waited 6 years to have a baby and focused on us and we started 3 businesses. He owns a flooring business and we both started an assisted living (9 bedroom) and then I have my blog. WE have worked our butts off and honestly do not regret it because we have been blessed and are able to afford things for the twins. I am so grateful that we waited because if we had twins right away I don’t know how we would have done it. For all those years of working hard and waiting so long we are so thankful for the double blessing right away.
- Do my babies sleep through the night? Yes, they do as of last month. I recommend taking the Takingcareofbabies.com course because she has amazing tips to help with sleep training.
- Have you introduced the girls to allergic foods and how? Yes, I started with fruits. I gave them a half of a fruit a day and waited to see if anything happened. I never gave them a few different fruits until I knew they were not allergic. Madeline broke out when she had strawberries, but I want to try again this month and see how she reacts. I started at 6 months but you do what is best. If you feel you need to wait longer, go for it.
- Did you sleep train your girls? If you did, when and how? We started at 4 months but the girls had bad sleep regression so that month was the hardest for us. We got through it though. I never let my girls cry it out for more then 10 min and if it was a really bad cry, I would pick them up. If it was a small cry I would try to just rub their backs, hand them a paci and have them figure out how to fall back asleep. Every baby is so different. Just hang in their mama. I definetly reccomend Takingcareofbabies.com.
- Tips on twin pregnancy? Ugh, hang in there! They will be out before you know it. RELAX, take epsom salt baths, eat popsicles and lift your feet up. I was so uncomfortable at 20 weeks (it gets worse trust me) but so worth it once they are out. Stay positive and you are almost there.
Now onto to the things we used the most for the twins:
Bassinet: We went with the Design dua straw basket bassinet and it’s such a stunning ad useful piece. I definitely recommend it. I loved that I was able to rock them with the stand and it fit in my small bedroom and tight spaces. We got two because we had the girls sleep separate. I dot the honk it’s safe to place two babies into one anyway.
Twin Z pillow: I talked about this pillow above and cannot recommend this product enough! We used this pillow so much especially while feeding the girls at the same time.
Stroller: We had the Nuna demi stroller gifted to us and I was so excited about this one because I had so many mamas say great things about it. Honestly, I loved it but when I got it and the girls came we ended up buying the Donkey 2 stroller and I am so happy with it. I honestly would choose the Nuna stroller for a single baby. As for the Donkey stroller, many said it was super bulky, heavy and difficult to use. Honestly, it was none of those. Haha! I absolutely recommend this stroller to everyone and if you are worried that it won’t fit through any doors don’t be. It fits perfectly through all doors.
Car seats: We went with the Nuna pipa car seats and absolutly loved those because we live on the third floor so it was nice to have the lighter weight option.
Snuggle me: We used this pillow so much with the babies and had them sleep in these during their naps. They are so cozy and soft and the girls absolutely loved it.
Clothing: I found these pieces so easy and so comfortable for the girls the first four months. You want something easy and fast especially with night changes and blowouts. Haha!
Bottles: We went through so many. Since my girls were so colicky the first four months (it was a blur) these bottles helped them a bit with the air bubbles and all. I love Dr. Browns bottles and we still use them.
If you will be using formula for your babies, I suggest getting the bottle maker. I regret not getting this baby and when I saw it it was kinda too late. I didn’t want to invest in something I would use for another month.
I think this might be it! If any of you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you all for following along!
